US stocks drop over 2% amid global growth worries

US stocks dropped more than two percent on Friday as the clouds of slow growth and the Greek debt crisis hung darkly over the markets.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 241.88 points (2.17 percent) to 10,912.10 at the close of trade.

The S& dropped 29.04 (2.50 percent) to 1,131.36, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq fell 65.36 points (2.63 percent) to 2,415.40.

Broker Charles Schwab said US stocks were under pressure "amid growing concerns about a global recession following a third-consecutive month of contraction in manufacturing activity in China and disappointing data in Europe."
